The Wednesday Rundown 7.20.11

Howdy and welcome to the Wednesday Rundown. This weekend we have a cardboard warfare video made from the ground up. These guys put a ton of effort into this amazing video. We also have some fashion shoots sent in by some of the Fstopper readers. If you have a video that you think we might like to post, please click on “submit content” above.

Cardboard Warfare:

This is a pretty slick film. A bunch of guys got together and created a short war flick out of cardboard. It looks very good and well made. Check out the main film first then check out their behind the scenes footage.

Fashion Shoot:

Photographer Olger Grandia takes us on a fashion shoot he recently did with a very industrial backdrop. He uses several softboxes during this shoot. To see more of his work check out his website http://www.olgergrandia.com/

Clothing Shoot:
John Galfano shoots a clothing line at a ultra-modern beach house. John found the house that was for sale with no one living in it, after asking the home owner to use the house they happily agreed. http://www.johngalfano.com

American Cowboy:

A behind the scenes shoot for the magazine American Cowboy. A simple out door shoot for a magazine that takes us out to the country.

the beach house video was awesome! i loved it, the images lookd really great. the only thing is, the final images looked a lot like the video. I just kind of wish the photographer explained what effect the strobes had on the image, because i can’t really tell a difference lol

Really not impressed with Olger Grandia at all, and the “no right click” script on his website just makes me want to steal his photos for the sake of it. All of the others were great.

Thanks for sharing my video and the rest of these great vids! Loved the crane moves and productions value of the beach house video. And the cardboard war is just downright hilarious!

Thanks for your comments. The images by the window were shot at around 1/40th sec to get the window exposure where I wanted it. The windows were obviously a great light source, but I also used a 7′ octa you can see in some of the video to open the shadow side and help with image sharpness. I like to use light without it looking obvious.
The images by the bookcase (at 2:42 in) were shot at f/8 – 1/125th sec, so it’s essentially all strobe (3 total for those shots) and it looks more or less natural.
If I could go back, I’d do some things a lot different.

LOL … so Matt isn’t impressed with Olger Grandia, but for some reason wants to save his photos and is now bitter because he can’t. HAHA, thanks for the laugh Matt.

I didn’t find out about the “no right click” because I was trying to steal any photos. I’m a web designer so I tend to view the source code. The little no right click message box stopped me doing that.. for a second or two. But it is in place to “protect” the photos.

I like it a lot, but it forces you to be a lot slower, sometimes slower than I’d like. The LCD pretty much sucks compared to newer DSLR’s, so you have to shoot tethered. Most of the time that’s fine, but it can also be a real pain if you’re trying to freestyle something. Image quality is great though.
