              The Wednesday Rundown 8.29.12

Howdy everyone and welcome to the Wednesday Rundown. This week we have a BTS video created by a Fstopper’s reader, Xavier. His team created a Lenovo promo video for a contest. Check out his BTS video first then see the final video. If you have a great and informative video you want to see in the Wednesday Rundown please shoot me an email jerrit@fstoppers.com .

              Lenovo Promo:
Xavier Burgin sent us this BTS video he created for a Lenovo contest. Xavier and his team used several rigs to crate some slick video moves. Check out his BTS video then watch the final.

              Dance Photo Shoot:
Marvin Peralta gets creative at his last dance photo shoot. Marvin uses a bare light to blow the background out, with a grided octabank and umbrella modifier.

              Natural Light Pinup:
Elizabeth Castro Photographer shows us her behind the scenes shoot with her pinup model. Elizabeth uses natural light and a reflector for fill.

Great variety in all 3 videos! BTS on video, lighting, and then natural light.  My thoughts are: 1) Wondering how Peralta got away with having his models so close to the white seamless without the bare light falling on his subjects? 2) If Castro is shooting natural light with a reflector, why lug around the speedlight? 3) Success with a silver reflector! When I use one, I just manage to blind people. I’ve only had luck with white reflectors…

                1) i’d say its because of the short width of the backdrop, but its true, the shadows are def not that harsh.
                3) i also use white reflectors, i think it looks better for the skin, than the silver/gold ones

                2) when she is taking pictures she forgets about everything else around her, so her focus wasn’t on whether she is carrying the flash or not but on what she was capturing the image, but yes flash was off, i guess she didn’t mind the extra weight :)
