This Is The Best Timelapse You Will Ever See... This Week

I know that we have shown a lot of timelapses lately but our readers really love them and each month someone seems to raise the bar on quality or creativity. It is now Dominic Boudreault's time in the spotlight with his film "The City Limits". This film has the most amazing cityscapes I have seen to date. Make sure you watch this thing in HD full screen.

This is a pretty amazing time lapse for sure. It was so elegantly exposed and in truly great definition with superb color balance at first glance.

Absolutely, mind blowingly, beautiful.

Those cityscapes had liquid gold flowing through them! Fabulous.

definitely the best one ive seen yet!

What is the music?

nice canadian landscapes, yay us!

song is Time ~ by Hans Zimmer

and it is the last track in the movie Inception. The "blackout" to the beat of the soundtrack at the end of this video is an exact imitation of the movie Inception =]

what an amazing timelapse

One of the better ones no doubt, but I still think The Mountain kicks it's ass.

Great soundtrack, great filmography and very inspiring

very tron/grid or dark knight-esque....

Cool, but i still think The Mountain is the best on i have ever seen

Montreal, Toronto, New York and Québec that I can recognize.

SWEET video!

Very cool. I can't help but think of all the work to create all of those scenes. A BTS story on this would be very interesting.

Damnitt on fullscreen HD my laptop Bluescreen of Death

Wow that was amazing! Fullscreen on 24 was pretty sexy. I want to learn how to do this! lol then again I have a pretty big list of photography stuff I want to learn :P But really this timelapse made industry look as beautiful as some of nature! Thanks for sharing.

That was truly amazing. I had my mouth open the whole time. How did he get so high?!?!? That's what i want to know!

Also, what camera did he use? So sick

canon 5D mk2

In Montreal, there's a mountain called Mount Royal from where you can view the whole city. I don't know about the other cities.

top notch work but nothing beats "the mountain" for me yet :

top notch work, but nothing beats "the mountain" for me yet :)

Awesomesauce.

Very nice stuff indeed. How does one go about licensing a big-time move soundtrack song like that for this kind of use?

so beautiful, can anyone link to The Mountain please

The mountain is definitely the best I've seen.

thanks Even

This one is classy!!

Love you Montreal. My city.

some of Chicago (the gold in the streets scene shot from the clear box in Sears tower, and both towers with red green blue, and the bean, and john hankock tower looking down at snowy beach), and new york, are what I know of

take a look at this, IMHO I think it's better than the best. :D

I just had en eyegasm...

what a beautiful movies. Wish could see it in a cinema. By the way I loved the music.

Sorry everyone, I have a question, how do you do overnight time lapses that last longer than a certain amount of time?

Using a gradiated filter you can expose the sky and the lights below properly by having the ND portion at the bottom. Then you need to use a wide angle lens in order to take a longer exposure in order to get the sky and not get star streaks. at 35mm you can do about 20-30 seconds. At 15mm you can go upwards of a minute. Each frame of this lasted for several seconds.

At least this is what I would do to attempt such a project like this.

The Grid!

is it possible to find out some stats on this like how many images shot, how long the project took

Love the vantage points for the city scapes. Brilliant !!

Was this HD video or a series of timed exposures? Anyone know the tools of his trade for this production?

I thought the end brought me back to Koyaanisqatsi. awesome work.

I love how it ended with God's creations. City light still can't touch the stars....

MAN = 0
GOD = won

really...? :)

True. It was interesting to enjoy 2.5 minutes of the beauty that man has created on this planet and close with the beauty of God's creations. Thanks.

Was that a custom soundtrack?

no it is from the Inception Soundtrack by Hans Zimmer, the song is called Time.

WOW! Stunning.

Impressive, but check out this one http://vimeo.com/22439234

:)

Do you think it's hdr? I'd think that but short cars trails and people make me think it's not hdr.
Confused

That's MY city! :P

MONTREAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wish I could say I'm super impressed. Am I the only one that isn't as blown away?
Sure it's a good timelapse, but I've seen a great many I like better...
