              [Video] Colored Powder + Phantom Flex @ 2,500FPS = :)!

The Holi festival in India has always been a colorful source of inspiration for photographers but New York-based production company, Variable, wasn’t equipped with a meager Canon 5D Mark III or Nikon D800 but with the awesome 2,500fps might of the Phantom Flex high speed camera.

So impressed by the Phantom’s performance we decided to give one away… wait, they cost how much!? Ummm, you know on second thought the Canon 5D Mark III and Nikon D800 really are spectacular at 60fps and we really are giving one of these away for our Fstoppers and SLR Lounge Nikon D800/Canon 5D MIII Giveaway! So follow the link to learn how to enter and in the mean time, enjoy the video.

“The world is fascinating. People and cultures inspire us. Sadly, the fast paced lifestyles of our generation result in many not taking the necessary step back to soak in the existing world around us. Our goal with this film is to help viewers further appreciate and take notice of the beauty in life & culture that lies within our world…

…so the next time you notice something that strikes you as interesting, stop for a second, start powering on your camera, think about why it’s unique, and snap the shot before you miss it. Life is extraordinary. Embrace it.”

That’s impressive. Putting that kind of camera and lens into that environment, wow. Plus, those were some pretty fast camera moves there, like when it moves past the kid throwing water, wow again. Very cool stuff.

I was thinking the same thing on the pan speed. They were seriously flying to get it past the water like that! I wonder if it was mounted to a bike or what?

I’m amazed by the depth of field, and the almost 3D quality.
