Photographer Battles Through Storm to Complete Four-Year Passion Project

For some people, photography is more than just work. They put their blood, sweat, and tears into passion projects for which they get no payment.

It is all for the love of art. If you have ever shot a personal project yourself, you will understand the amount of hard work that goes into them: the planning, the people-managing, the sourcing of costumes, and locations. It is no easy feat! But what if four years of planning and research were about to go to hell due to a freak weather storm? This is what Canadian photographer Renee Robyn had to deal with earlier this year while creating her for the love of horses project.

We have all been in that sweat-inducing situation when something does not quite go right on set. Well, imagine your set being the ancient forests of Canada and 50 percent of your cast is horses. That is an extra level of shoot anxiety. Now, throw in a snowstorm. Hello, stress level one thousand. In this blog post and video, listen to the thought process of a photographer in real-time as she deals with not only the stress of potentially losing all the money invested in the project, but also the anxiety of letting down her team.

At the end of the day, we are all human. Life challenges us constantly. It is how we react to these challenges that define us. Will you go down with the ship or fight your way to victory? I do not want to spoil the ending, so I will let you find out for yourself which path Renee chose.

Dedication and perseverance combined with equal effort equates to quality of results. Or in layman's terms great job.

Killer work, I live in horse country, Kentucky, Thoroughbred Capital of The world. What a glorious style. Reminds of the opening scenes of the movie Gladiator with Russell Crowe.

Ahhh Kentucky! Land of fast women and beautiful horses! ;-)

Fast women is an understatement, so fast I lost more money on ladies than at the Keeneland race track in Lexington, KY. This race track is also a non-profit. All monies made are given to charity. https://www.keeneland.com Racing dates are Oct and April

I didn't know that! I don't live terribly far from Kentucky and have friends there. I might have to stop in and lose a few dollars for charity!

Great job Renee. Been enjoying the previews on Patreon.

Short and sweet video, as they should be. Nice project to do too!

Amazing shots. What a nice piece of work.

As we say in my country... blyatiful!
