The Inspiring 8 Second Exposure Project

The Inspiring 8 Second Exposure Project

To have an eye for fine art requires a special kind of talent. Nicolas Ruel does a fantastic job of creating unique photographs that capture the essence of a city in his "8 Seconds" project. For all of his images within the project, he sets the camera to an 8 second exposure and changes perspective mid shot. This lets him capture a layering effect in a single shot.

His work has taken him to dozens of major cities around the globe. To see more, check out his website.

Interesting. I wonder if this could be a way for cameras that don't have multiple exposure features, to still make some cool effects in-camera. Perhaps with a ling exposure by stacking nd filters and creating a long exposure multi exposure? I don't know but I'ma try it!

These images are great.  I recently tried some of this doing some night photography.  With the multiple exposure feature on my camera, I did recently put out a series called Torontox3 using triple exposures.  Here's a link to the series http://jmphotographyonline.ca/torontox3/

Interesting effect Jay. As for the photos in the post, there's some really beautiful images there and especially if you click through to the guy's site.

The +100 contrast look hurts my eyes.

These are a little weird. I've taken many photos with an 8 second exposure but you can still see what's inside the photos. These one are quite blur.

Really interesting photographs. What kind of Camera he used?

Those are some pretty cool paintings dude. Wow.
