Wedding industry veteran Robert Hall, is taking a break from the tech side of photography to bring you six prudent tips for wedding photographers, all focused specifically on the importance of the client experience.

As working photographers we should all strive to deliver a phenomenal end-to-end experience to our clients, there are many obvious business related reasons for this. You learn early in the process that it will take much more than a fancy camera, and technical editing skills to win over a customers loyalty. The wedding industry is a crowded and competitive market, similar skill-sets overlap. Where you can differentiate is in how serious you take the client experience.

Hall’s second pointer in the video is to serve your client whenever you can. I love this one, and it’s all about taking the time to educate yourself ahead of time as the wedding day subject expert. Small things like learning how to pin a boutonniere to a lapel, or assist with putting on a bow tie, and jumping in to fold up a pocket square. You can almost guarantee that there will be those in attendance who are not aware of how to accomplish these wedding day traditions. Stepping in to assist instantly allows you to build trust with those you will be photographing on the day, and puts their minds at ease as they see you harness experience. And most importantly you went the extra mile, and these small gestures all add up to a greater sum. Excellent video!! I have given up my smartphone and don't wear a watch even, if I need to check the time I just look on the camera's menu screen; looks like I'm working at least :-)
