Five Quick and Helpful Tips to Start Your Wedding Photography Business

If you're ready to take the big leap and start your wedding photography business, there are a lot of things you need to make sure you cover before you book your first client. This quick and helpful video will give you five helpful tips to make sure you start your wedding photography business off right.

Coming to you from Susan Stripling with B&H Photo and Video, this great video will give you five quick and helpful tips to get your wedding photography business off the ground in proper fashion. In addition to what Stripling has to say, I think it's crucial to get good insurance, especially in wedding photography of all genres. First, you'll definitely want good liability insurance. If something like a light stand falls over and clocks a guest on the head, you'll be very thankful you're covered. Second, you'll also want good gear insurance, as wedding photographers tend to break gear at a higher rate than most other genres do. The peace of mind alone is well worth the yearly cost. Something wedding photographers should also look into is "Errors and Omissions" coverage--in case they get sued by the bride for a real professional screw-up (such as losing a memory card or somehow not making it to the wedding) or even an imaginary screw-up, such as making her look fat.

Susan is a Canon shooter. Actually she just switched back to Canon from Nikon about a year ago. She is a part of Canon's Explorers of Light, which is a big deal, if you look at that line-up you will see why. https://www.usa.canon.com/internet/portal/us/home/explore/explorers-of-l...

Susan's teaching style is approachable. Which means it's just like setting down with a good friend and talking photography. Nothing short of amazing.
