How to Start and Grow a Successful Wedding Photography Business

Becoming a competent photographer with good creative aptitude is only half of what it takes to become a successful wedding professional. This fantastic video tutorial will give you a ton of helpful tips and information on how to start and build a wedding photography business.

Coming to you from Chelsea Nicole Photography, this helpful video tutorial will give you a lot of great information on starting and growing a successful wedding photography business, including eventually moving into the high-end wedding space. The mistake I often see photographers make is focusing solely on improving their skills with a camera. Of course, you should have your camera technique mastered before you attempt to leverage it into an income. However, if you focus solely on that without paying any attention to developing the skills it takes to run a successful business, you will likely be setting yourself up for failure in the professional realm. In fact, I know a lot of highly successful professionals who might not be world-class photographers but who make good money because they have strong business skills and treat photography as the service their business provides, rather than putting it on a pedestal and trying to build financial success around that. Check out the video above for the full rundown.

Why anyone would want to start being a wedding photographer puzzles me. They are already a dime a dozen. World is so saturated with wedding photographers. Don't believe me, Google it in your local community.

Photography is one of those professions that people think they can make money with and look cool to their friends. They work odd job and try to make a go if it but more often than not leave the field in tears.

People can make a living at it but just like so many professions, it takes a ton of hard work and the actual business is nothing like the fantasies.

Restaurant work is exactly the same. Liking to eat barbecue is scarcely a qualification to start a restaurant.

Chelsea is a very talented and highly successful wedding photographer.

My dime a dozen comment is in no way meant to diminish the value of a wedding photographer. The market is just so oversaturated with them. And it seems that the majority of photographers starting out want to be wedding photographers. I applaud the great wedding photographer that make himself/ herself standout It is extremely hard work and demanding. And with the saturation in the marketplace, pricing sometimes does not equate to the true worth.
