Photography Website Mistakes That Can Cost You Money

Nowadays, your website is probably the most important tool in your business toolkit, as it is where the vast majority of potential clients will evaluate if your work suits their needs and initiate contact with you. As such, it is crucial that you ensure you do everything you can to create the best possible online experience for your site's visitors, and this great video tutorial will help you ensure that you do.

Coming to you from Chelsea Nicole Photography, this helpful video discusses mistakes photographers make with their websites. By far, one of the most common mistakes I see is simply taking too long to load. This is often due to inefficient elements or unoptimized or overly large images. I think this tutorial is on to something much subtler but equally as important, however. Genres like weddings are very much about capturing not just competent photos, but memories, and people who are considering hiring you are doing so based on their perception of your ability to forever preserve what is important to them in a manner representative of how they see them, which is why it is so important to tap into that side of a person. Check out the video above for the full rundown.

Can you start a feed for stories that don’t include videos? Nothing wrong with them, but … everyone already has YouTube. They might be coming to a story-based web site at a time and place that they want to read stories. Instead they get “this sounds like an interesting article” only to constantly get the return of “sorry, no information here unless you are willing to take a pretermined amount of time and turn the sound on your device.”

Videos have a play button icon over their thumbnail on the homepage.

I miss actual content written for the blog. If I wanted videos I'd be on youtube.
