Go behind the scenes with photographer Jens Haugen. Jens produces some amazing work. Probably because he shoots with a hasselblad,(jokes). A lot of work goes into fashion photography like this. From Mua's, Art Directors, Stylist, ect.. every person has an important role in developing the finished product. Not having a entourage should not discourage you tho, it just means you have to work harder and pay attention to detail with a fine tooth comb. For instance the color schemes in these photos are very well constructed and tie her outfits in with the BG. The balance of light and the way they use the light to shape her face is really beautiful too.
We recently came upon this gallery of before-and-after images of a few well known celebrities as seen in fashion magazines and large scale advertising campaigns. These are, it would seem, examples of just how far an image can be taken in post to make it usable for publication or advertising use. While the value of these photographs could be debated for days (some will say they're worthless, that the retouching is horrible,
I have been following Luke Schneider's work for quite some time and it just keeps getting better and better. He has a nack for fashion photography and it clearly shows. I decided to find out a bit about him and what his goals are for the future and current project. He is still in college so he has quite a bit of time ahead of him to achieve his goals. From the looks of it, he is well on his way there.
Vulture.com selected what they believe to be the best images of 2012 to wrap up the year. From Lady Gaga to David Cross, these are some of the most remarkable portraits made to print. Some actors, some musicians, quite of few of these portraits are just bizarre and unusual - making them all the more interesting.
Now these are some overly dramatic images starring Kate Moss, photographed by Mario Testino. "Styled by Sarajane Hoare, the British beauty poses alongside Spanish matador José Mari Manzanares in some of the season’s most opulent looks. Designs from the likes of Christian Dior, Alexis Mabille, Dolce & Gabbana and Lanvin are complemented by the glam touch of hair stylist Sam McKnight and makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury."
Harrods, the popular department store in London, had an idea for the holiday season. They took some popular Disney princesses and brought them to life by adorning them in beautiful dresses designed by some of best designers in the world. The result is a beautiful campaign shot by photographer Jason Ell.
Hello fellow Fstoppers. My name is Chris Lambeth and this is my first post on here using my own work. Also, the first shoot I feel that is up to the level to be shared with more then just my Facebook fans and friends. My good friend and fellow photographer Seth Barlow, who has shot for companies such as Louis Vuitton, Gulf & Main, ect, decided to move back to my town of Spokane WA from Miami and purchase a studio. We got the place all cleaned up, or at least enough to shoot in, and decided to do a test run.
Good photography isn't all about having a big budget and I am always a fan of photographers who can prove it. Columbus, Ohio based photographer Nick Fancher just sent me a quick video that outlines his very simple, yet brilliant, lighting idea. Nick took some cheap pegboard and lit it from behind creating a hundreds of little beads of light behind his subject. By using a wide aperture he could blur each of these bursts of light to create some pretty compelling images.
Terry Richardson is pretty much the biggest name in celebrity portraiture, and his recent batch of photos of 30 Seconds to Mars musician and actor Jared Leto are really interesting. Leto is preparing for his upcoming role in The Dallas Buyers Club as a transgender struggling with aids, and Richardson did an excellent job capturing that character.
Here we are, back again with another young, incredible artist. Vilde Indrehus is a 17 year old photographer from Norway. I know this whole "Instagram" look has been done over and over yet there is just something about all these shots that gets me. The composition, DOF, ideas, everything just comes together so nicely. Its so nice to see young talent popping up. Gives me some hope for the future generations.
I love fashion photography. It has been a dream of mine to shoot for magazines such as BAZAAR. Benjamin Kanarek did just that and had the opportunity to shoot Model and DJ, Alexandra Richards who is the daughter of Rolling Stones Keith Richards. From the looks of it, Benjamin went for a very simple look. Looks to me like a single Light source from overhead and a white wall with harsh shadows. Thats a bit different from most fashion shoots. Usually photographers go for soft shadows and use key lights, rim lights and fill lights. So seeing a high fashion shoot done with a simple technique is quite refreshing.
Since it's launch in 1964 the Pirelli calendar is one of the most desired items of the new year. Each year a celebrated photographer is hired to shoot the world's most beautiful bodies stripped naked in some of the world's most gorgeous locations. This year famed photographer Steve McCurry earned the honor of the shoot, Rio the exotic location, but as Refinery29.com put it "the only kind of melons you can expect are the fruit ones." Read on to learn about their big change, see some of the images and watch a detailed behind the scenes video.
In 1963, American photographer Melvin Sokolsky shot a gorgeous series for Harper's BAZAAR of a model inside a giant plexi-glass bubble all around Paris. I can't say enough about these images. They are timeless and even wow me today more than 50 years later. What a spectacularly executed concept that really draws you in and keeps you wanting for more. Well done Sokolsky, well done. Enjoy!
"I started using Photoshop since i was a little kid, I would use a 1 mega pixel camera and invite my friends over. I would then take photos of them and photoshop them really tiny fighting my toys and what not. I think after that, I've always had an interest in photography. One funny thing though, i failed photography and Photoshop twice in high school. Just because i never wanted to do the projects our teacher gave us. Instead i would Photoshop the teacher like hulk and what not. Ha hah. I have never done a 365 or 52 project, even though I'm dying to do one. Just don't think i have the time at the moment." - Javier Gil
