Known for its speed and pure adrenaline, it continues to drive ticket sales and audiences from all around the world in the thousands. Thanks to one mystery photojournalist, Seph Lawless, we are seeing some historically outstanding photos from the very first and very forgotten beginnings to what NASCAR once was.
Whether you're an intern about to work on set for the first time or a production veteran, acting well on set is the easiest way to move up in the world, learn more quickly and be asked back on more shoots. The one and only Pepper Yandell, based in Dallas, Texas, could be called the rising star of automotive photography for some time now, and for good reason. Yandell produces some of the most striking and commercially viable automobile images I've ever seen, so recently when BMW handed him the keys to a factory fresh 2 Series and told him to get lost for 24 solid hours, it was pretty clear that this rising star had ascended to a new level.
This afternoon, I called Paul C. Buff, Inc. because I had to send in one of my Einstein strobes for repair due to negligent (though expected) airline handling of my lighting gear case. After a few minutes of chatting regarding my busted strobe, I happened onto the Buff website to research some pricing on additional gear I may procure before summer. That's when I saw that he had died, apparently over the weekend. I asked the repair rep what had happened, and we ended up discussing Mr. Buff for a further 25 minutes.

So I get this question all the time, and decided today I would answer it. This is just a little thing I enjoy doing, and never gave it another thought when I started it. House of Cards, in my opinion, is one of the best shows available to stream on Netflix - if not anywhere. Their breakout drama series exploded on the scene just a few short years ago well before their original content became synonymous with high quality shows, movies and documentaries currently on the network. House of Cards' true appeal (outside of the hilariously twisted Frank Underwood) is the way it's artistically shot. This video demonstrates just how powerful two colors can make a show about corrupt American government that much more beautiful.
Leave it to the same university that would probably save our world from an apocalypse to, until that need arises, create better, smaller lenses. Harvard’s School for Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS) recently expanded on a previous design for flat optics by adding nano silicone antennae that actually bend the light. The result is an incredibly thin and completely flat glass lens capable of the same light bending properties as our current lenses, but with virtually zero chromatic aberration.
We have all come across terribly staged stock images in our careers, and I always cringe when searching simple keywords like "business" on sites like Getty or iStock. It comes with great pleasure to find Getty Images and Fox partnered up to create one of the funniest publicity stunts in preparation for the release of Vince Vaughn's new movie "Unfinished Business." Including cast members Vince Vaughn, Tom Wilkinson, Dave Franco, and others, the shots involve fake laughs and poorly photoshopped faces in each and every photo.
