Yesterday all along the Pacific and from Japan to Texas, many of us got to experience a solar eclipse of varying intensity. Of course, it's hard to not want to photograph such a rare occasion, and some of you did a darn fine job of it! Let's take a look at some of the best solar eclipse photos that you all captured.

Take a look at the very complex work of Michael Mapes who creates portraits by dissecting photographs and creating specimine boxes using hundreds of vials, pins and other tools usually used for preserving bugs. Check out his incredible images that give the viewer the feeling of being both scientific observer and mad scientist.

Tragedy struck Kirsty Mitchell four years ago when her mother passed away from a brain tumor. As a way of processing through the grief, Kirsty decided to pick up a camera and get lost in the world of photography. With an incredible imagination and extreme patience, Kirsty created some unbelievable fairy tale images to honor her mother by recreating the stories she was told as a child.

Tadao Cern, a Lithuanian photographer based in Vilnius City, did this amazing set of portraits (100 of them!) of people getting hit by g-force winds - he called this project "Blow Job". The results are beautiful (in their own special way), so take a moment and check out this set of photos.

Gaby Herbstein is a photographer from Buenos Aires, Argentina. Last year she created a calendar with beautiful and mysterious sets made from repurposed trash. Her end product is a collection of images that bring you back to a time before responsibility, where imagination reigns supreme ... you know, your youth. Behind the scenes shots are always fun, especially when it's from really great movies. You get to see characters in their real element still dressed as their on-screen characters. These images are just awesome. These are rarely seen images of the cast of Star Wars that I am pretty sure you'll enjoy.

Adam Taylor is a very talented photographer that I have followed here and there for the past few years. His portfolio has really grown as he has created some fantastic work in his campaign portfolio. But what I really like is the mystery that he brings to the table in his landscape photography. I love the muted tones and dark feel of most of these images. Enjoy!

Although the creation of the upcoming horror flick "Dark Harvest" has less production value than what you would get from Hollywood, it might relate to the average photographer a little better for that reason. In their behind the scenes, Tim Tabke and Joel Hinojosa team up to show us a glimpse of what it took to kick off the new indie film with a teaser poster. The mood they capture is as much about interacting with the actors as it is the lighting and drama of the shot. I find their work encouraging as it shows you dont need a hollywood budget to be able to produce a quality piece of work...

Anyone who has picked up a magazine with photographic content is well aware of the amount of retouching and massaging that goes into many of the photos displayed in advertisements or in editorial features. But at what point does the 'retouching' go too far?

As photographers I think we all love a good sunset or sunrise. For me, personally, I rarely see a sunrise, but that's the life of a night owl I suppose. The rare time that I am up for a sunrise (usually by force) I always find myself snapping iPhone photos like nobodies business. I recently stumbled upon this photo series by photographer Eric Cahan. He has some amazing shots of sunrises and sunsets from all over the world.

Michael Jackson, Elvis Presley, and Sean Connery are all Russian generals. At least in this set of images they are. These came from a site called ReplaceFace, where you can get your own personalized portrait as a general. I have to admit, I would gladly hang this portrait of Bill Murray over my mantle (if I had a mantle). What do you think of these composites?

Photographer Martin Schoeller recently shot this TIME Magazine cover on an extended method of motherhood. The featured cover shows an image of a young mom and her son, still breastfeeding at age 3. While there is no right or wrong time to stop breastfeeding, these images have stirred up quite the controversy on just that.

Underwater photography is a kind-of-rare form of photography. Its way less accessible for most of us, as most of us cant afford the super expensive DSLR underwater housing, and Intagram will probably fail in this mission as well. Most of underwater shots we get to see are of nice looking fish, or a cool coral reef - but this time we're bringing you something even cooler - the best underwater shots of sunken wrecks: ships, planes and cars.
