How I Created This Victorian Horror Composite in Photoshop

In this video walkthrough, watch as I show you how I created this photo manipulation horror composite portrait image in Photoshop. I love to get my friends into my studio, play around with ideas, and create conceptual portraits. A couple of years ago my buddy Renee Robyn was in England so we created the first portrait of my Possessed personal series. I have always been a big fan of the horror genre, so it is always good fun to play around with something a little darker.

In the video, you will see me peeling away Renee's face with decay textures. Also creating demon skin with a rotten apple. Using blend modes with these kinds of textures is always a great way to transform an image. I also show you how to add scratches and textures to create a Victorian look to the final image. Part of photography for me is trying new things, crazy ideas, not sticking to images I am comfortable with, I believe this is how we learn and progress. So do not forget to try and create images that seem a little out there, this can sometimes lead you down a path that ultimately ends up with you finding a new technique or style.

This video walkthrough is great for beginners who want to see how a composite like this is pieced together. When I was learning I found it of great benefit to watch other artists' processes and workflow. Taking what I needed and applying it to my own.
