Some great images posted and congrats to the winners.

I have not tried Gurushots and have heard mix feelings about it. Wonder what the community has to say for those who have tried it / use it...

Guru shots are very hard to compete, let alone win a prize. It is very understandable because you compete with rest of the world. Getting to even elite level is very hard, you have to be really good to get to all star level. To win a prize or become a guru is almost impossible.

GuruShot's business model is based on the acceptance of non-professionals to pay to gain visibility. It is an intellectual and professional fraud. It shouldn't be on Fstoppers, I'm disappointed.

I never paid a dime to Gurushots. I never won any prizes either but I have been in top 100 multiple times.. It is a very fun game and contrary to what you say you don't get any visibility or recognition besides personal satisfaction that complete strangers around the world think that your pictures are better than tens of thousands of pictures submitted for the contest. You can not buy acceptance of the millions of people who vote on Gurushots. And even if it was pay to gain visibility - why is it a problem? It is not like pros do not pay to advertise their business.

Glad you had fun, i had too. But there is a time for everything. There are excellent photographers on every platform, but seriously, recognize that 90% of Gurushot is real BS ! Maybe i'm traumatised by all the dick picks i saw there...

The "Macro Photography" contest was a great collaboration between Fstoppers and Gurushots! I wasn't aware of this photography site...thanks for choosing one of my photos to be highlighted here.

Great shots, but there are many I do not consider macro. Macro is 1:1, at least, everything else is a close-up.

Agreed. There's really no structure at Guru shots so I'm not surprised at the amount of close-up photos. You can submit images to contests that aren't at all relevant but see them rise if you buy visibility with cash or speed voting other photos.

Thank you Chris. I don't know Guru shots. But that explains a lot...

Gave up on Gurushots. It became "pay-to-play" very quickly. I've won some "competitions" with crap images, just spammed a lot, and I've not even come close with some of my best images, when I don't pay endlessly to boost.

This website uses a bunch of tricks used by slot machines to keep you playing, or gambling, and throwing your money away. Would not recommend.

Exactly how I feel about Guru Shots. Tried it for a few weeks then deleted my account.
