Mark Your Calendars: Entry Dates Announced for Leica Oskar Barnack Photo Contest

Want to win over $30,000 in cash and a full Leica M system? Well there's a photo contest for you. One of the most acclaimed international photographic competitions is back for the 38th year and we've got the entry dates so you can start shooting.

Named for the designer of the first Leica camera, the Oskar Barnack Award can be earned in one of two categories with the "Newcomer Award" for photographers under 25 years old, and the "Public Award" for anyone else. Winning the latter earns you a cool 10,000 euros and a Leica M rangefinder system, while the former nets you 25,000 euros with that same Leica M system.

From March 1 through April 5, 2018, professional photographers and up-and-coming photographers up to 25 years old will be able to submit entries for the Leica Oskar Barnack Award online for the opportunity to have a light shone on their impressive work.

The competition calls for the submission of self-contained series, between 10 and a maximum of 12 images, in which the photographers perceive and document the interaction between man and their environment in a creative and groundbreaking style. Last year’s competition attracted over 2,700 entries from 104 countries.

On March 1, you'll be able to access entry forms on the Leica Oskar Barnack Award website.
