OPTIC: Outdoor, Photo/Video, Travel, Imaging Conference in NYC

If you are an avid outdoor photographer like myself and will be in the New York area next week, you’ll be delighted to know B&H Photo and Video is holding their annual OPTIC Outdoor, Photo/Video, Travel Imaging Conference this coming June 2-5.

The conference is returning to the city for its fifth consecutive year and will be held at the New Yorker Hotel in midtown Manhattan. The conference will kick off with a live talk by keynote speaker Frans Lanting at 1 pm on Sunday in the Grand Ballroom. If you can’t make it, B&H will be offering a livestream of all presentations on the main stage on June 2 and 3. You can RSVP to the livestream event via this link.

Other speakers include Eric Guth, Erika Skogg, Ralph Lee Hopkins, and Paul North, while presentations include topics such as how to create a unique travel photography style, visual storytelling, Arctic photography, underwater photography, promoting your photography, and diversifying your portfolio. These are just a few of the topics and speakers that will be available at the conference. Keep in mind, the presentations are held in the Herald Square Room, Sutton Place Stage, Gramercy Park Stage, and the Grand Ballroom. More information on all presentation topics and speakers can be found here.

Other OPTIC activities include a photo exploration room, a nighttime sightseeing bus tour of the city followed by a critique session on work created on the tour, an image scanner contest, portfolio reviews, a photo walk of Governor’s Island with Sony Artisans and Linblad Expedition National Geographic Photographers, and a sunset cruise sponsored by Canon.

I’m hoping to be there for most of Sunday. It would be great to connect if you plan on attending.
