Experimenting With Different Weird Lenses and an Anamorphic

An experimental photographer has mixed a series of weird lenses while keeping the same anamorphic lens in order to test out how the combinations impact the image quality and bokeh in its video capabilities. Some of the combinations gave interesting, shallow bokeh.

Photographer and YouTuber Mathieu Stern is renowned for his weird lens tests and is currently in the process of constructing an anamorphic lens setup. Until then, he decided to ask Justin Bacle if he could experiment with his setup for his latest video. Check out the video to see the results!

Stern says that anamorphic lenses required in achieving this look can often cost in the region of $20k and beyond, and instead recommends the much more viable option of a vintage anamorphic cinema projector lens.

Stern says:

[In order] to use them, you will need two lenses: one is the normal taking lens, and the other one is the anamorphic lens. Then, if you have more money, you can add a single focus adapter.

The lenses tested include a Sankor 16D Anamorphic, Yashicascope Anamorphic, a 75mm f/1.9, and a Tamron 90mm f/2.5, all of which were used in the experiment to record video footage of vintage vehicles.
