DJI Teases New Drone Coming Next Week, Possibly With Weather Resistance and Other Upgrades

Is there anything more simultaneously annoying and fun than speculating about a new product based on the obscure references in a hype video? Well, DJI just released a teaser video for their upcoming event on January 23, and it looks like they're planning something big. Here's what we think it is.

When the DJI Spark was being hyped, the teaser tagline was "Seize the Moment." Of course, in retrospect, that makes sense, as the Spark is meant to be an ultra-portable drone that captures life's little moments — less a professional tool than a tagalong. As DJI prepares to announce a new product on January 23, the tagline is "Adventure Unfolds," as you can see in the teaser video above. So, what do I make of all this? I personally think we'll see a new version of the Mavic Pro. The Mavic Pro is currently marketed as the company's go-anywhere device for professional photographers and filmmakers ("adventure"), while "unfolds" is likely a reference to the model's collapsing form. The video is full of inclement weather and references to a "small and mighty" device, plus DJI's cover photo sure looks like a folded Mavic surrounded by a misty fog to me. So, my guess? I think we'll see a new Mavic Pro with a sleeker design, upgraded camera (perhaps inheriting the Phantom 4 Pro's camera), and perhaps a breakthrough feature of weather-resistance. Then again, I could be completely wrong. We'll find out in a week!

Leaked photo of new DJI Mavic Pro 2

(don't ask me where I got this photo of Lee and Patrick testing early prototype)

Hahahahahahaha loooooooooL!

Hey man, you don't joke about flying DeLorean's. I'm still waiting for my hoverboard.

ROFL, what the heck are you reading ? :D ( absolute garbage site )

Awesome!

So we (ex) Phantom 4 Pro owners can still live with the major firmware issues, failing drones, DJI Go4 continuous application crashes and slow tech support.

Sure hope it's a new Mavic. Adding a drone to my business this year and would love to get a brand new one.

Let the tech apocalypse begin...

hahahhahaha..black mirror 4 ...great so we all gonna be chased and killed by drones..chased (done) killed by(coming up on 23th )

#AdventureUnfolds. lol

Does DJI normally hype this much? Weeks out, with video? I know there's always rumours and wish lists, but when the Mavic was just being speculated on, I don't remember too much hype. It just was.

Makes me thing this is either a Mavic 2 (Although I heard about "Mavic Air"), or a Phantom 5, with a radical redesign. Like maybe a foldable phantom 5?

Either way, I'm stoked. A Mavic Pro 2 with a Phantom 4 Pro level camera, and I'm in day 1.
