5 Commonly Overlooked Photography Tips

The internet is absolutely bursting with photography tips and advice; however, some helpful ideas are often overlooked for one reason or another. This fantastic video discusses five often overlooked tips that will help you become a better photographer.

Coming to you from Wes Perry, this excellent video talks about five often overlooked tips that will help you improve as a photographer. One tip that I think gets overlooked quite a bit is the importance of being fully comfortable with your gear. This is crucial for a few reasons depending on the genre you shoot. If you shoot in a genre with rapidly changing lighting and action conditions, such as weddings or sports, any hesitation when it comes to changing settings can be the difference between getting or missing the shot. On the other hand, if you are shooting something like portraits and your nose is buried in your camera's menu system, your subject is not likely to feel as engaged and comfortable in front of the lens. Even if it is something like landscapes, if you are using brainpower on figuring out your camera instead of controlling it intuitively, you are taking focus and cognitive resources away from your creativity. Check out the video above for the full rundown from Perry.
