7 Helpful Landscape Photography Tips

Landscape photography takes the confluence of technique, creativity, planning, and often, a bit of luck to create a successful final image, and as such, it helps to be as knowledgeable and prepared as possible before you ever take a shot. This great video will give you seven helpful tips to improve your landscape photography.

Coming to you from Photo Tom, this helpful video details seven tips to improve your landscape photography. Of the tips, the most salient for me has been to simplify your compositions. It can be tempting to try to jam as much of a beautiful scene into the frame as possible (that is why landscape photographers default to wide angle lenses, after all), but in recent years, I have really started to gravitate toward minimalist landscapes, as I find the interplay of light and composition in such images to be really powerful. I have begun to think less about what to include in my frame and more about what I can take out, and it has made my images much better. Check out the video above for lots of great tips.
