The Beauty of the Ordinary

There are a lot of iconic locations out there, and it can be wonderful to travel to and photograph them, but there is a lot of beauty in the ordinary and what is around us, and you are missing out if you overlook the places you pass by every day. This great video tutorial discusses the power of the ordinary and why embracing it will make you both a better and more content photographer.

Coming to you from Craig Roberts of e6 Vlogs, this excellent video shows the power of exploring the ordinary and mining it for meaningful shots. It can be tempting to chase all the iconic places, and sure, they can be wonderful to experience, but I think it is more meaningful if you embrace the areas around you. After all, being able to look back on places that are close to you will probably be more meaningful in the long run than a visually stunning location, no matter how jaw-dropping. And you can leverage your expertise of the local area to produce work that is meaningful to other people who live in the area, which gives you a distinct advantage. Check out the video above for the full rundown from Roberts.
