Everything You Need to Know About Aperture

Of the many things you have to learn about in photography, aperture is by far one of the most important and fundamental to the way your images will look. If you are new to photography, this excellent video tutorial will show you everything you need to know about aperture to take better creative and technical control of your images.

Coming to you from Marc Newton with The School of Photography, this great video tutorial will show you everything you need to know about aperture. Along with shutter speed and ISO, aperture is one of the three fundamental exposure parameters that you have to adjust for every photo you take. And while it helps to control the exposure of your photos, it is also a tremendously powerful creative tool, as it helps determine the depth of field (how much of your image is in focus), allowing you to keep everything nice and sharp, or use the effect of a wide aperture to blur our everything except your subject. In fact, a lot of professionals end up using aperture priority mode to keep that creative control while letting the camera take care of the other parameters. Check out the video above for the full rundown from Newton.
