Everything You Need to Know About Lens Filters for Landscape Photography

Lens filters are essential for just about any landscape photographer's gear bag, giving you the ability to cut down on problematic reflections or take greater control over your shutter speed for artistic exploration. This great video tutorial will show you everything you need to know about using lens filters for landscape photography.

Coming to you from Andy Mumford, this excellent video tutorial will show you how landscape photographers use lens filters to improve their images. Though there are many kinds of filters, the two most commonly used by landscape photographers are neutral density (ND) and polarizing filters. Neutral density filters simply cut down on the amount of light entering the lens, allowing you to increase your shutter speed for creative effects involving the sky or water. There are also graduated neutral density filters, which allow you to balance extreme dynamic range differences between the sky and ground. Polarizing filters are often used to cut down on reflections on water or to bring out more vibrant foliage. They are two pieces of equipment well worth having in your bag, especially if you enjoy creative experimentation in your images. Check out the video above for the full rundown from Mumford.

Must be a typo there about increasing shutter speed with an ND filter.
