Finding and Working With Great Light in Landscape Photography

The quality of your imagery in landscape photography, like every other genre, is highly dependent on the light and how it shapes the scene. This great video talks about how to find and recognize the best light out there.

Coming to you from Adam Gibbs, this helpful video talks about reflected light in landscape photography: what it is, why it's important, and how to find it. There's a multitude of different types of light in landscape photography, and the patient and persistent photographer is often the one who benefits when the type they're looking for finally makes an appearance. What I particularly appreciated about the video is that Gibbs goes to great lengths to explain the very practical decisions he has to make depending on the light. For example, while you may be used to using a polarizer when there's water involved or you want to bring a little contrast back to the sky, there are situations in which doing so would actually inhibit your ability to capture the beautiful way the light is filtering through and shaping the scene.
