Five Helpful Tips for Better Photos When Posing Dancers and Performers

Every model is trained is posing, but dancers take it a step in a different direction with their ability to contort, control, and push their bodies in spectacular ways. This great video will show you five tips for getting better photos when you're working with dancers.

Coming to you from Hk Visuals, this helpful video will give you some tips for working with dancers. The great thing about them is the extraordinary abilities they possess, which will allow you to find new poses that generate interest, mimic or complement the geometry of the scene, or show off their raw athleticism. As the video mentions, one of the most important things is to make sure you do your homework on your specific dancer's background before the shoot. For example, if their background is steeped in Graham technique, they'll probably have a vastly different aesthetic and set of abilities than someone who has spent their life studying ballet. Spend a half-hour or so watching examples of whatever genre the dancer you're working with specializes in to get an idea of what's natural and possible for them. You don't need to learn all the terms, but simply understanding what they do best will do a lot of good for the shoot.
