Fro Knows Photo Interviews Celebrity Photographer Jeff Kravitz

Fro Knows Photo, AKA Jared Polin, sits down with celebrity photographer Jeff Kravitz. They chat about shooting red carpet events, the business of concert photography, and how to balance work and passion.

Back in 2013, Polin had the chance to interview entertainment photographer Jeff Kravitz. Kravitz is based in Los Angeles, created Film Magic, and is a very seasoned professional. Although this video is a few years old, the information is very informative. Kravitz is a very enthusiastic guy, his charisma and personality has given him the longevity it takes to make it in the industry. Film Magic was bought by Getty Images and Kravitz is in a unique position where he owns his own images.

I think it's really interesting how Kravitz has developed his team for big events. They are fixtures at Bonnaroo, the Super Bowl, The Oscars, and other big events. "Building relationships is crucial," says Kravitz. He has shot over a million frames, has 300,000 searchable images on the internet, and acts as a mentor to young photographers.

Polin is known for being an advocate for shooting raw photos, but Kravitz expresses the need to shoot JPEG for speed and efficiency. The Getty team is shooting wirelessly to their editing room at most events. The Super Bowl presents a few radio frequency problems because of how many people are shooting wirelessly. "On those occasions we have to hand the cards off to a runner." The idea is to get the images up on the internet to make a sale as quickly as possible.

To see Jeff Kravitz's work you can head over to Getty Images.

Please don't post old stuff. Not good to use old materials on the time machine to fill out contents.

any particular reason this is being posted 2+ years later? not trying to troll or anything, but is he in the news again?

don't hold back jerry, tell us how you feel. sorry you find him obnoxious but i think your in the minority. he has a lot of useful info that many many people use. just because he promotes himself the way he does makes him a great marketer for his brand. guy is making a living doing what he loves. you can't knock him for that. yes he might be a little much at times, but i still enjoy his stuff 99% of the time.
feel free to start your own "fro style" empire and make a go at it. i'll watch your stuff for a while and see how you do. and i'm sure there are lots of jerk photographers out there, i know a few without even thinking real hard.

If the video is two years old, there was no rush on the writer's part. Why not take an extra ten minutes to proof your article?
