How Color Theory Can Help You Improve Your Photos

When it comes to often-neglected topics that deserve a lot more attention than they get, color theory has to be near the top of the list. Understanding how different colors interact and how you use them to complement, balance, or play off each other is a fantastic way to start making more creative, harmonious, and compelling photos. This fantastic video tutorial shows how to use the power of color theory to make eye-catching portraits.

Coming to you from Lindsay Adler with Westcott Lighting, this awesome video tutorial will show you some of the power of color theory for creating intentional images. Most of us have at least heard of complementary colors, but we are often guilty of not thinking about the color placement in our images enough. And beyond complementary colors, there are equally compelling and interesting relationships, ranging from analogous to tetradic colors. Knowing these relationships and taking the time to plan for their usage in your images gives you a remarkable level of creative control. Check out the video above for the full rundown from Adler.
