How to Photograph Fireworks

The 4th of July is just about here, and that means fireworks will soon be filling the skies all around the United States. They make for fantastic photography subjects, and they can be a great technical challenge as well. If you are thinking of heading out to capture some images, check out this helpful video tutorial that will give you a range of tips to ensure you come home with the best possible shots.

Coming to you from David Bergman with Adorama TV, this great video tutorial will show you how to capture fireworks images. One important thing to remember is to include some of the surrounding scenery with the fireworks. While the fireworks are quite impressive on their own, that does not always translate from your what you see in person to images. Including a bit of the surrounding scene can help to contextualize their size and brilliance, making them all the more impressive. And if you use a tripod, you can easily mask together multiple shots to create a particularly eye-catching composite photo. Of course, stay safe and follow all the regulations wherever you are. Check out the video above for the full rundown from Bergman.
