Looking to Take Your Photography Game to the Next Level in 2020? Join the 52 Frames Weekly Photo Challenge

The new decade is just a week away, which marks the start of a new beginning. With anything new, it gives us an opportunity to set goals for ourselves, and take our photography game to the next level. If you're looking to level up your photography in 2020, joining the 52 Frames weekly photo initiative is the perfect way to flex your creative muscles each week, and become a better photographer while you're at it.

Who doesn't like a challenge? The 52Frames challenge was started by photographer, Yosef Adest nine years ago, and it's been growing ever since. 52 Frames is a free photography community that is focused around a guided weekly photo challenge that is designed to help you improve your photography skills and enable you to see your world differently, each week.

In a world that is so focused on client driven assignment work, it's so easy to get caught up in a creative rut. But, each week, a group of thousands of “Framers” from over 50 countries set aside time out of their busy schedule, to take a creative break and submit one photo each week, based on that week’s fun and engaging hand picked challenge like self portrait, landscape, rule of thirds, and many more.

This is one of my favorite submissions from this years week three challenge: leading lines.

As I was walking home from lunch, I saw this amazing composition. It was taken with my Iphone. No photoshop necessary. By being apart of 52 Frames, it taught me to see the ordinary world in a creative way.

Before the deadline each week, which is Sunday at midnight, you head over to the 52 Frames website where you submit your photo. After your shot is submitted, it gets culled by the selection committee and every Tuesday an album is created to facilitate helpful feedback and critique from the community. This helps create a safe place to receive constructive criticism on your work as well as engage with other photography enthusiasts around the world.

Do you think you have what it takes to take part in the 52 Frames challenge this year? If you do, head over to the new 52Frames.com website and sign your 2020 manifesto today! But, don't wait, you don't want to miss their first weekly photo challenge, which is "Self Portrait" due January 5th!

Post your submissions to the first weeks challenge in the comment section below.

I have been doing this challenge for 3 years now, and love it. You can be a complete beginner or a professional photographer and you will be made to feel just as welcome, it is the friendliest photography group I have ever known, and although it takes you out of your comfort zone in some challenges, it really helps you improve, critiquing others within the challenge is probably the best tool for learning as you have to really study other photographers images which helps your critique of your own images.
