When you hear about selective color, you probably think of aesthetically questionable decisions involving a partially black and white image, but that is not what we are talking about in this case. The selective color adjustment layer is one of the most powerful to ways to make highly precise adjustments to color in Photoshop, and this excellent video tutorial will show you what you can accomplish with it.

The versatility of the selective color adjustment is that it allows you to precisely focus on certain hues and make subtle or more complex changes. This can be used for a wide variety of purposes ranging from local adjustments like changing the color of objects in the photo or more global edits like a color grade. The important thing to remember is that like most color adjustments, it is generally a good idea to err on the side of being conservative in how far you push the edits, as it is very easy to go overboard.
