At the core of any image editor is the brush tool, and although many of us don't give it a second thought, it really is one of the most important features to master. Density, opacity, hardness, and flow all affect how the brush works in very different ways. Make sure you know the difference between these settings so you can work smarter when editing your images.
Matt Kloskowski is back once again with another handy video on advanced brush techniques inside of Adobe Lightroom and Camera Raw. Even if you're one of the few who doesn't use Photoshop or Lightroom, this video is still well worth a watch as the many settings he talks about appear in most image editors out today.
I have to admit that even after using the brush tool for the last 18 years I have never really ventured away from a very basic feathered brush. After watching Kloskowski's video I now realize that I have been missing out by not using things like flow to my advantage.
If you're someone who does a lot of brush work then having a good understanding of such an underrated tool will not only save you a lot of time when it comes to editing, but it may actually help you to achieve a much more visually appealing look to your retouched images.
