What a Polarizing Filter Is and How to Use One for Better Photos

If you are new to photography, you might be wondering what a circular polarizing filter is and how it can be used to create better images. This excellent video tutorial will show you why circular polarizing filters are useful and how to employ them in your own work. 

Coming to you from Saurav Sinha, this excellent video will show you how polarizing filters work and how to use them for your own images. This sort of filter is useful because light that has been reflected tends to be polarized. Therefore, by adding a polarizer to the front of your lens and turning it so that its axis is orthogonal to the incoming light, the reflected light will be blocked. This will then remove glare and reflections from your shot. This is useful for a wide range of applications: for example, in landscape photography, a polarizing filter can remove the glare from the surface of water or to increase the contrast of the sky. They can also be a great way to increase the vibrancy of wet leaves that might get a bit washed out by sunlight (something to keep in mind if you are photographing the autumn changes)! The wrinkle is that in the case of large CPLs on telephotos there has to be high accuracy in making and mounting.
