3.32 - "Solid"

This is a composite image made of a long exposure (providing the streaks behind the vehicle) and a panning shot following the vehicle itself across the track. The repeating numbers behind the vehicle are due to the LEDs that make up the number blinking at 60hz - too fast for the eye to notice but fast enough that they seem to "repeat" as the vehicle passes by at high speed. The shot was taken on the 20+ degree banking at Daytona International Speedway which gives an interesting top-down perspective not often seen in other motorsport venues.

AWESOME shot. I would have loved to have the blinking smoothed out: It's already a composite so why not?

Hey David, glad you like the shot! I thought the blinking added an interesting narrative to the subject, I had to do a little research to figure out why all my long exposure shots for vehicles with this particular display were repeating like that and the reason ended up being kind of interesting.

This is fantastic and imo the blinking is a feature of the image, not a bug.

I really don't understand how the FStoppers rates work; I guess no one in the world (for the FStopper Community) has a 5 star image. In my opinion no image could show "motion"better than that. Congratulations, fantastic image.

Thanks a ton Paul! Photographers are tough critics, but there's nothing wrong with that. There's so many different styles of photography that one photographer may love and another not care for. It's all subjective. I guess that just means that true "5 star" images really stand out that much more!

This shot should be the winner.

Thanks Bela! When it comes to motion, I think this shot tends to portray it really well.
