The reason she's wearing a mask is to protect her husband. He was admitted to the hospital at the same time she was. She was about to have a double mastectomy and he was about to have surgery for a severe case of Crohn's Disease. At this time they had 4 children under the age of 7. It was a tough and emotional time for everyone. The background photo is exhibiting the strength it took to get back to healthy. They made it! Together.
