this shot pictures a famous mountain in rio de janeiro, brazil, called "pedra da gavea", which is under the administration of a national park. i've taken this photo from an overlook at another well known mountain called "pedra bonita" (which translates to "beautiful rock").
on that day i hiked "pedra bonita" to the top. it was a fairly easy hiking, that took around 1h30 to 2h00, walking at a slow pace. from the top we had a wide view of rio de janeiro, as well as this privileged close-up of "pedra da gavea".
this image was not cropped. i zoomed in to get closer enough to have a clear view of the people on top, who climbed there on that day, while also framing the entire tip of the mountain.

gear: camera nikon D7100; lens 18-300mm f/3,5-5,6.
camera settings: 1/125 sec; f/5,6; ISO 100; 280mm.
for the post-processing i used only lightroom. i made a slight angle adjustment to straighten the horizontal plateau line. this shot was overexposed, so i had to bring down the exposure by 3 stops, and applied some dehaze. for the colors i enhanced the vegetation with calibration of red, green and blue; and color mixer on the hue and luminance of yellow and green. i used masks on the rock to enhance details overall and to add a slightly orange color cast on the rock part only, plus a horizontal gradient on the bottom to darken the bottom vegetation. then i finished with some basic sharpening and removed some sensor dust.
Magnificent photo, Bruno! Would some more adventurous people risk climbing this Pedra da Gávea wall?
thank you!! i hope they do, cause there are some great pictures to take from up there!
