Fashion designer-turned-photographer Vivienne Mok creates ethereal images; her young subjects bathed in light simultaneously soft and brilliant light. Drawing from her background in design, Mok creates intricately detailed settings decorated with treasures gathered from flea markets or built by hand.

A graduate of Parsons School of Design, Mok spent several years working at a fashion house in Paris, where she initially began using photography as a tool for documenting her designs. She later switched to photography full time, shooting editorials alongside personal projects. Entirely self-taught, Mok strives to create little worlds within her images, pushing her audience to imagine the stories surrounding these moments in time.

Her aesthetic and compositions seem to also be influenced of classical paintings. It looks pretty awesome.

Very reminiscent of David Hamilton's work but with models that appear older.

David Hamilton should've shot some photos like this. I bet it would've made him famous.

Do you use natural light exclusively or do you have some very big artificial light setups in your workflow for more control, maybe some reflectors? Beautiful work by the way!
