Shooting Portraits on One of the Most Expensive Film Cameras

Medium format film cameras are a rarer sight than ever, and taking portraits on them can be an experience. These portraits, however, are taken on one of the most expensive film cameras you can get your hands on.

Owning a Hasselblad is a bit of a bucket list item for me, and has been for over a decade. They have created iconic cameras for most of the time cameras have been accessible, and they show little signs of slowing down. Their newest camera, the Hasselblad 907X 50C, had me regress into full G.A.S the moment I saw the announcement. All that stands between me and it is the $10,000 price tag for the body and one lens. Or rather, the justification of that!

One Hasselblad which is quite special for a few reasons is the H5D. With a choice of both digital and film backs, you can use this camera for the best of both worlds; an attractive prospect! You can still get this camera from Hasselblad with the digital back, but you're looking at well over $10,000 without a lens. The pairing of any Hasselblad with their famed 80mm lens is drool-worthy for many of us, which is the exact combination in this video.

Have you ever used the H5D? Do you own one? What do you think of it?

Well presented! I enjoyed the video very much.

Funny how they had to ask a guy younger than me like they would have addressed to a wizard to load the film ! I feel old... But the sound is always nice to hear. Even if I don't like the ergonomics of this specific camera (battery for handle, the viewfinder which distorts,...)
