Affordable Canon Mirrorless Glass: A Review of the RF 24-105mm f/4-7.1 IS STM Lens

Canon's RF mirrorless lenses have been pretty spectacular, but they are also very expensive, which might make it a bit difficult for some photographers looking for glass to go with the relatively affordable EOS R and EOS RP cameras. This great video review takes a look at the new, much more affordable RF 24-105mm f/4-7.1 IS STM lens.

Coming to you from Christopher Frost Photography, this excellent video review takes a look at the new Canon RF 24-105mm f/4-7.1 IS STM lens. Canon has made some spectacular mirrorless lenses, but these lenses have also been pretty expensive and also quite bulky. On the other hand, the RF 24-105mm f/4-7.1 IS STM trades more extreme optics for a smaller size and affordability in a great walkaround range of focal lengths. It also has a 1:2 maximum magnification ratio, allowing for macro work and full-time manual focus override. It also brings along the Control Ring feature from the more expensive RF lenses, which allows you to adjust ISO, aperture, or exposure compensation with the ring and image stabilization with up to a five-stop benefit. Finally, it also features a rounded seven-blade diaphragm. Certainly, the slow maximum aperture may be a dealbreaker for some photographers, but if you are looking for an affordable, versatile lens (at least in good light), it could be a good option. Check out the video above for Frost's full thoughts.
