Canon came out swinging in 2020, but their 2021 lens roadmap shows that they were only just getting started, as we can expect a whopping 16 mirrorless lenses, with multiple revolutionary new options and 13 L models.
Canon Rumors is reporting that they have received Canon's 2021 lens roadmap from a reliable source, and it's a doozy, to say the least. Highlights include autofocus tilt-shift lenses (TS-R below), a 135mm f/1.4 lens, a zoom lens that reaches 10mm, and the reintroduction of 1,200mm prime lens to the lineup. Check out the full roadmap:

Sadly I think Canon's strategy here is to deal Nikon a death blow with their mirrorless lineup.
Canon strategy - suicide. Their cameras - bottom of dxomark, their lenses - bottom of dxomark. If you want movie - take sony, of you want stills - take nikon (or sony), if you want the most expensive shitbox from the past with the most expensive and useless lenses - take canon :)
True photographers or videographers do not buy cameras & lenses based on dxomark ratings, maybe amateurs do
Let's not forget they gave the 1D X III a score of 83, lower than the mark II and in some metrics lower than the original 1D X. Then edited it to a score of 91 after the justified backlash. They also give sony sensors the same score as medium format cameras, which is absurd, just download an image from the gfx 50s and compare it to highest non MF sensor, dxomark would probably give both similar score but reality is different.
One last point, most recent cameras give great results, if you think a camera would make you a better photographer then i have some bad news for you, i see a ton of newbies buying Sony cameras and i see the results, if you know what you are doing then all new cameras are just fine, unless you have a specific use case one camera can't give you.
"Thinking about buying medium format? Read this first" - is an article in DPReview that should be read before any FF to MF comparisons. You'll find photos and explanation, why a slightly tweaked full frame, even non-BSI, Sony sensor (the cheat was: native lowest sensitivity ISO 64 for FF vs ISO 100 for MF) compares beautifully to a slightly bigger 50MP MF sensor (the small 44×33 medium format and lowest ISO only!). This was in 2017. Today we have even better BSI FF sensors from Sony. Btw. adding Canon 5DS to the comparison was cruel ;-) , something with less resolution should have represented Canon.
DXOMark apparently gives points for best/maximal values and not for what is happening at high ISO.
Did you find some garbage on the street, stir it up with a tree branch, and look at the patterns as source for this garbage comment?
DXO lost all credibility years ago when they gave the Pentax 645Z their first score over 100 then took it down two days later. They didn’t put it back up until another camera scored higher.

Really I’m sorry a death blow is a bit far! From what I hear and have seen the new cannons have rolling shutter issues and they overheat like crazy. So what cannon have done has put a load of amazing specs down that don’t really work. Everyone is going mad over 8k but you can’t edit or use it and it overheats the camera it’s pointless. You also don’t get your full frames per second out of the shutter If the battery goes down. Another promise that can’t kept. And I’m sorry Sony’s are so flimsy unless your only in a studio. they are not a pro build quality let alone the fat there menu sucks and are uncomfortable in your hand. Aww yeah and there colours suck. All cameras have positives and negatives I don’t think Nikon is going anywhere !
If Nikon came out with all this, how many will you be buying? That's whats important. There are a couple of lenses which are really attractive, but there is absolutely no need to bring out so many lens altogether.

So it is a roadmap with old lenses but with price*3 cos of RF mount? Yup, really revolution. Seems like canon is dying.
1) There was no price announcement.
2) So far the new R lenses have new designs, and the focal lengs are mostly standard along all lens manufacturers, the 135 f1.4 is actually unique, the 1200 is as well.
3) between EF L lenses and RF L lenses, the price is not 3x. For instance the 70-200 lenses, the EF at a discount is sold for $2100, the RF one is sold for $2700

Where are the DO lenses? Doesn't Canon realize that most hobbyists with $$ are older and struggle to cart around those 6-9lb lenses? Make a 4.5lb 600mm f/5.6 DO lens, and Canon I'm there.
35 and the 135mm would tempt me. I'm used to spending 1000-1800 on lenses but something tells me that might not even be realistic. There is a manual focus 135mm 1.4 and it is huge.
Canon's EF 24mm 1.4 L II is really outdated now. But it could be that my 2011 copy is the problem. I guess the 24mm 1.8 macro STM would be more useful in most cases, especially video.
I think i just heard Sony yell..."oh shit, our parade is over, were doomed!" Canons main advantage has always been that they produce cameras and lenses for photographers, whereas Sony just cranks out high tech cameras to make money but forgets about what photographers really want. The Sony parade will come to a screeching halt in 2021. Lol

So basically they're replacing their full lineup of EF lenses... Great my camera shrunk 1/2 and inch and my wallet will shrink by 2 inches... ugh.
Some very nice lenses and it really isn't a surprise. Canon have gone in both feet with their full frame mirrorless system and they have the R&D budget and facilities to create a large line up of lenses relatively quickly.
Those complaining about Nikon. Nikon has done remarkably as well with their Z mount lens line up and whilst they may not be able to quite keep up with Canon for new lenses. The quality of the lenses they are releasing is exceptional.
Also, lets not forget that there are lots of EF and F mount lenses, which work fabulously on Canon's and Nikons mirrorless cameras. Its not the case that suddenly all the older lenses are suddenly rubbish and all the images you get will look terrible.
When eventually, I go over to full frame mirrorless. I am not just going to dump my old Nikkor, Zeiss, Voigtlander and Tamron lenses. All my lenses do the jobs that they are asked and I will probably only replace them when I see a lens, which is a focal length I don't own and meets the needs that my other lenses don't.
