DaVinci Resolve Coming Soon to Your iPad

DaVinci Resolve Coming Soon to Your iPad

Today, Blackmagic Design announced that its prominent post-production platform, DaVinci Resolve, will now be available on the Apple iPad.

As someone who both has an iPad Pro and uses DaVinci Resolve as both my main editing software as well as color grading suite, this is welcome news. Blackmagic Design states that the mobile version will be optimized for MultiTouch technology and the Apple Pencil. DaVinci Resolve for iPad offers support for cut and color pages and is capable of HDR workflows with compatible systems. It integrates with the recently announced Blackmagic Cloud option, allowing remote collaboration around the world.

I haven’t gotten my hands on the app yet. But I am very interested to see how the product would add to my workflow. I’m also interested to see how well my aging iPad Pro is able to handle the workload, which has previously been the sole domain of my desktop. Blackmagic Design states that the app will be able to open the same project files that are compatible with the desktop version. It will be able to work with file formats which include H.264, H.265, Apple ProRes, as well as Blackmagic RAW. Clips can live on the iPad’s internal memory or be brought in from iCloud or USB-C drives.

The product will launch on the app store in Q4 of this year.

So what do you think? For my fellow DaVinci Resolve users out there, will being able to access your workflow on a mobile device help to extend your workflow on the go?

I only just bought an iPad... it's all coming together! :)

Which model iPad did you choose and why?

The 11 inch M1 Pro. I wanted the M1, better screen and camera than the regular iPad.
