The DJI Osmo Mobile Just Got... Foldable

There are many smartphone gimbals on the market but one of the most well known comes from the company DJI. The Osmo Mobile 3 is the most convenient version yet considering it is able to fold up for transport, and can be operated with just one hand.

The Osmo Mobile is a perfect tool to stabilize your footage if you shoot a lot on your smartphone. Let's just say it pretty much makes your smartphone smarter (and more stable). Starting at a price point of $119 the Osmo Mobile 3 gives anybody the chance to be more creative when it comes to shooting photos or videos. With new features such as active track 3.0, sport mode, gesture control, quick roll and story mode, the DJI Mimo app will be your new best friend.

Cool Features

Just like the Ronin SC, DJI has put active track 3.0 in this gimbal. Using Bluetooth 5.0 technology, you can now just draw a box around a subject and let Mimo do the work for you. I think this specifically is one of the best features because if you are not a filmmaker and just want to capture the moment in a cinematic way, you can easily do that with the smart modes on the app. Another fun feature is the quick switch, this allows you to change the orientation from portrait to landscape with just the touch of a button.

After you capture all your videos, you can save the clips to edit yourself or jump into story mode and let Mimo edit for you. This technology is becoming a lot more popular, using artificial intelligence to pick out videos and music to create a seamless edit. If you are not into editing or don't want to spend too much time putting something together yourself, you can simply have the app help you out.

Final Thoughts

I think this is yet another fantastic consumer product for DJI. I can see this being a much more convenient system for someone who doesn't feel the need to always carry a camera around with them. I think the camera on our smartphones has gotten to a point where the Osmo Mobile 3 could actually just another tool to assist in getting the shots you want when. I don't think this is the right tool for me but I think it is the perfect tool for parents who want to record their kids, people into video who like to document their adventures or even people who are beginning to vlog that don't want to spend too much on a camera and gimbal. In fact, this could make a good gift for people who just want something to stabilize their video footage from their smartphone.

It does seem like DJI is trying to expand into new markets to push their name out there. I know a lot of people want to see a new drone from them but they have been launching a lot of smaller items that have nothing to do with drones. I myself am waiting to see what is next from this company but am certainly happy to see them taking consumers advice and making their products better and better.

I am a huge nerd when it comes to drones and have been flying for over 4 years. I enjoy doing aerial photography as my personal work but shoot tons of video for work as well. I am a part of Simply Visual Productions and Simply Sounds, working my way into an industry I couldn't be happier to be a part of.
