Does the Sony a7C Beat the a7 III?

The Sony a7C is here, and it offers full-frame performance in a very compact and portable body. If you are interested in the a7C, check out this great video review.

Coming to you from DP Review, this great video review takes a look at the new Sony a7C mirrorless camera and compares it to the similarly equipped a7 III. When I reviewed it two years ago, I called the Sony a7 III one of the best all-around cameras on the market, and while it is still a great camera, the a7C also brings along a range of improvements brought about by the last few years. Its most notable features include:

  • 20% smaller and lighter than other a7 series cameras
  • Weather-sealed magnesium-alloy chassis
  • 24.2-megapixel sensor with 15 stops of dynamic range
  • 4K video at up to 30 fps (2.4x oversampling) and Full HD 1080p at up to 120 fps
  • Extended ISO range of 50-204,800
  • Continuous rate of 10 fps
  • Hybrid AF system with 693 phase-detection points and 425 contrast-detection points along with Real-time Eye AF and Tracking AF
  • 0.39" OLED EVF with 2.36-million-dot resolution
  • 3.0" vari-angle touchscreen LCD
  • Wi-Fi and Bluetooth
  • 5-axis in-body image stabilization

The major compromise in the smaller body is the single card slot; nonetheless, it looks to be a well balanced camera in a very portable body. Check out the video above for the full rundown.

Just a fyi...the lead image for this article is for a different video.

love my a7III...lighter cameras just feel so unnatural heheh

It's smaller - so it's useless and more expensive. I'll not replace my A7III by only this. It's a waste of money in a crisis - a bad move from Sony. It's not good enough.

None of the reviews mention the flash sync speed. For someone shooting with flash the slower sync speed can be an important issue.

I'm disappointed that Sony a7C has the older menu system unlike α7S III.

The: crappy viewfinder is enough for me to pass; not to mention: single card slot, no custom buttons, old menu, and compromised IS.

Strange that there are no one mention the "one card slot" here
Its a useless camera, it's 2020 and it come with one card slot...

Where is all the people that ranted bashed Nikon for the same reason regarding the Z ?

Where is the hairy guy and his rant because of the one card slot?
