Elinchrom Introduces the Skyport HS Trigger for Olympus

Three months ago, Elinchrom released the Skyport HS for Sony. Back then, many seemed to complain there was no version for smaller bodies. It’s not the case anymore with the introduction of a new Skyport HS specifically designed for Olympus cameras, making it the fourth version of this pioneering flash trigger.

The Skyport HS for Olympus offers the exact same features as the versions for Canon, Nikon, or Sony, including the very useful and well thought-out Hi-Sync system, allowing flash sync speeds of up to 1/8,000 s without the light loss encountered with HSS. Priced at 249.95 USD, the trigger for the micro four third cameras is available for a similar cost to its three siblings.

While this is not the Fujifilm version that I am sure many would have loved to see, it’s still a step in the right direction. It proves that the Swiss manufacturer is committed to providing each photographer with a solution, no matter what your camera brand of choice is. With rumors of Profoto coming with a TTL Air Remote compatible with Fuji cameras, there is hope of seeing Fujifilm opening its system a bit more, and who knows, we will perhaps see a fifth version of the Skyport HS in the future. That is, unless camera manufacturers eventually come up with a standardized protocol someday.
