How to Shoot Better Photos on Your Mobile Phone

You might not always have your camera body on you but what about your mobile phone? Learn the basics of shooting better photographs on your mobile so wherever you go, you'll always know how to make the most of the device you've got with you.

There's no denying that most of us have a smartphone of sorts that's capable of taking good quality images, but not all of us have made the jump of buying a camera body yet. There's no reason why you should overlook your smartphone when thinking about photography because, let's face it, a lot of images taken will be used primarily to view on screens as opposed to being printed large. They are light to carry, almost always on hand, and hardly anyone will take notice of you using it to take photographs in public.

Travel and Lifestyle Photographer Pierre T. Lambert, whose camera body had been on a hiatus while sent off for a repair, didn't stop shooting but instead focused on getting his creativity fulfilled through using his smartphone. In his video, Lambert outlines the basics you should think about to take your smartphone photography from a simple snapshot to an image that showcases your skill and personality as an artist. Whether you have an Android smartphone or an iPhone, it's irrelevant, as long as the device is capable of taking photographs and you have access to download mobile apps, too.

From taking a photo to editing it, Lambert explains which mobile phone apps are great for the purpose by using an example of a photograph he's taken himself. We won't always have our editing suite with us, whether it's a small laptop or a fully kitted out studio, and we won't always have or want to have our camera bodies with us either. Learning a few hints and tips on how to keep your creativity and skill up while shooting on a mobile will give you more flexibility and freedom to experiment when you're traveling light. There's no need to stop enjoying photography just because you don't have a camera on you (or haven't bought it yet), because smartphones nowadays offer so much, from decent apps to take the photo to finishing it off in editing.

Do you swap your camera body for a smartphone when traveling? Do you find smartphones fulfill your creative needs?

"There's no need to stop enjoying photography just because you don't have a camera on you " VERY WELL SAID Anete!
When I travel I obviously always have my camera but at times I can't go to some places with it and that's when the phone is handy. It's also the best tool to give other people a glimpse into your creative life and snap the moment :)
Happy Sunday!

Definitely! Couldn't agree more. Now, I just need to make the leap and upgrade my phone...
