The New Mac Studio Is Now Available to Order

The Mac Studio, Apple's powerful desktop computer, has been upgraded with new chips and a range of new features and capabilities. Here's what's new and how you can order yours.

The 2023 Mac Studio

I was highly impressed with the original Mac Studio in my review, as it offered seemingly unlimited power for tackling even the most demanding tasks. The new version of the computer was recently announced, and it offers a nice range of updates:

  • New M2 Max and M2 Ultra chips offering up to 6x faster performance than the most powerful Intel-based 27-inch iMac and 3x faster performance than the M1 Ultra Mac Studio
  • Up to 24-core CPU and 76-core GPU
  • Up to 192 GB of unified memory
  • Up to 8 TB SSD storage
  • Up to 800 GB/s of memory bandwidth
  • Compared to the M1 Max, the M2 Max renders in After Effects up to 50 perfect faster
  • Compared to the M1 Ultra, the M2 Ultra renders in Octane up to 3x faster and offers up to 50 percent faster processing in DaVinci Resolve
  • 8K and 240 Hz HDMI
  • Support for up to six Pro Display XDRs for driving over 100 million pixels
  • Wi-Fi 6E
  • Bluetooth 5.3
  • Four Thunderbolt 4 ports
  • 10 Gb Ethernet port
  • Enhanced HDMI port
  • Two USB-A ports
  • Two USB-C ports,
  • SD card slot

The new Mac Studio is available for preorder now, with expected availability on June 13.

Great, I just bought the old one last week for my fiancée for studio recording. Freaking Apple.

Apple will accept it's return and then sell you the new model, I've done this with a past MBP.

Who's fault was that? It is not like Apple kept it a secret.
