Meet the Coolpix P1000, Nikon’s new announcement which features 125x optical zoom.
The company has freshly revealed this new compact camera with a superzoom. With a distance of a 24-3000mm equivalent lens, it’s the first to pack an optical zoom of this size, while also containing the biggest range available for a consumer superzoom camera. It beats out the previous record holder, the Nikon P900, which boasts an 83x optical zoom (and is still available).
If that wasn’t enough, there’s also 250x Dynamic Fine digital zoom which provides an equivalent focal length of 6000mm. The P1000 is working with 16 megapixels, a 1/2.3-inch sensor and a lens aperture range of f/2.8 to f/8. A bold grip as well as the Dual Detect Optical Vibration Reduction — consisting of 5 stops of optical image stabilization — will help users take steady shots.
If that wasn’t enough, the P1000 has great video options, capable of capturing 4K video at 30 fps, or 1080p at 60 fps. To complement that, there’s even an external microphone slot suitable for a 3.5mm connector to help produce professional-quality audio along with the visuals. This model caters to a wide range of users, evident in its capabilities of shooting superlapse and time-lapse movies. Last but not least, the Coolpix P1000 possesses a 3.2-inch vari-angle tilting screen and even includes Nikon’s most recent software, SnapBridge, featured on many of it’s higher range DSLRs, and the inevitable built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
The Coolpix P1000 will be available on September 6, 2018, and can be pre-ordered now.
Lets not forget that the Coolpix P1000 also has Nikon's camera RAW as a file option, and the sensor is BSI. This should be fun to use!
I like this gear set up, but from what I found out about these long lens camera, unless its on a big tripod like the kind news folds use on big video rigs, you will get a lot of noice or shaky images.....So, I doubt you can get that good of a photo at 3,000mm , just saying
I'm not sure this camera will be all that usable for anything else than well lit static objects. Aperture is f/8 at the long end and the sensor is the size of my little pinky fingernail.
