Nikon has announced that it will be launching two new lenses for its mirrorless full frame cameras: the NIKKOR Z 14-24mm f/2.8 S and the NIKKOR Z 50mm f/1.2 S.
Nikon fans have been waiting patiently for the Z system’s first super-fast autofocus prime lens and the Japanese manufacturer will soon be delivering the 50mm f/1.2. The lens will be available to purchase from December at a price of $2,096.95.
The 50mm is billed as Nikon’s fastest and most optically impressive AF prime lens to date, offering “unrivaled sharpness, speed, and life-like clarity.” It features weather sealing, a shortcut button, and a customizable control ring, as well as an EL (electro-luminescent) Display panel, an OLED screen that can show focus distance/DOF, focal length, or aperture.
As you might expect, this is not a small lens: though not quite Noct-sized, it weighs 2.4 lb (1090 g), measures 3.6 in x 6 in (89.5mm x 150mm), and has a front filter thread of 82mm. It has 17 elements in 15 groups and 9 diaphragm blades.
The 14-24mm f/2.8 S is described as the “shortest and lightest full-frame zoom lens of its kind” and completes Nikon’s trinity of fast zoom lenses. At just 1.43 lb (650 g) it is more than a third lighter than its DSLR predecessor. It will be available to purchase in November for $2,396.95.
The front element is “nearly flat” and the lens accepts a 112 mm filter. It’s 3.5 in (89 mm) in diameter and 4.92 in (125 mm) in length. 16 elements sit in 11 groups and there are 9 diaphragm blades. Like the other trinity lenses, it features the same EL Display, shortcut button, and control ring, and has weather sealing.

I most definitely want the 14-24, this seems like a stunning lens. Can't wait.
Fascinating. The Canon RF is a bit lighter, and way shorter, also a bit thinner, but not much. Different lens design, both are expensive (the Canon has an even higher price). Cool stuff anyway.
Tried to find a bit more:
Nearest focusing distance: Nikon 0.45m vs Canon 0.40m
Maximum Reproduction Ratio: Nikon 0.15 vs. Canon 0.19

I would have gladly given up tack sharp corners @ F1.2 if that 50mm was 30% smaller.
That 50 is reasonably priced, all things considered. A better, real-world, professionally useful optic.

Can get a Medium Format lens for that ... yawn
You can also get 2003 Honda Accord for that. But neither will fit on a Nikon Z.
Easy sell the Nikon and buy the medium Format. It’s the same price
