Palette Gear has announced new modular hardware controllers while rebranding to become Monogram. Cited as 40% slimmer compared to the original Palette, Monogram's new and re-engineered modules offer compact yet versatile control and backward compatibility with first-generation modules using the new Monogram core hub.
Among the additions is Orbiter, a new, 3D input device optimized for color grading. According to the press release, Orbiter includes a new "dual tilt/press mechanism: tilt for expressive and confident control in X/Y directions, or press down as a large pressure-sensitive plate in [the] Z direction."
Users of Photoshop, Lightroom Classic, Capture One by Phase One, After Effects, and Premiere Pro, among others, should anticipate an expanded array of customizations for creative control. We listened to the feedback from countless photographers and redesigned the hardware to be more compact and slimmer, which greatly improves speed and portability, without compromising the customization that users love. The Monogram software and firmware have also been rearchitected to improve responsiveness and reliability, and we added a ton of requested features for Capture One, Lightroom and Photoshop."
Additional details on the latest Monogram hardware are available on Kickstarter. With a goal of $51,401, the campaign was fully backed within two hours of launch.
I’ve been using their current product for years now. It’s not for everyone but it works great for me. I immediately backed this Kickstarter and I can’t wait to try the new system out!
