A Review of the New Sony FE 200-600mm f/5.6-6.3 G OSS Lens

Up until recently, Sony users didn't have many telephoto lenses to choose from, but the company now features two high quality supertelephoto prime lenses and two quality zoom lenses, the newest being the FE 200-600mm f/5.6-6.3 G OSS lens. How good is the new zoom lens? This in-depth video review seeks to answer just that question.

Coming to you from Mark Galer's Alpha Creative Skills, this excellent video review takes a look at the Sony 200-600mm f/5.6-6.3 G OSS lens. The lens is quite intriguing for Sony shooters, as it offers a highly useful zoom range for sports and wildlife photographers without commanding the stratospheric prices of the 400mm f/2.8 and 600mm f/4 prime lenses. As such, its closest competitor is the FE 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 GM OSS lens. Generally, both lenses turn in quite good performance, with the 100-400mm turning in a slight advantage in autofocus performance, though the longer 200-600mm is no slouch. In the end, the decision likely comes down to which focal length range you need the most, though it's worth noting the 200-600mm is $500 cheaper than the 100-400mm. Check out the video above for Galer's full thoughts.

This video while long pretty much answered any question I had about this lens. Comparing the 100-400mm with and without the teleconverter and on different cameras. Great examples too. I need the portability so I'm sticking with the 100-400 but I still think the 200-600 is an affordable option.
